Authorities and businesses in Quang Nam Province have made electricity saving solutions for many years. However, Quang Nam Power Company said that changeable weather since the beginning of this year would have a negative impact on electricity supply.

Households have adopted energy-saving solutions for their family

The Quang Nam Power Company agreed a range of measures to reduce power cuts, calculated electricity demand in each season and continued to propagandize electricity saving solutions.

According to the direction of the provincial people's committee, implementing electricity saving solutions was the right policy to overcome the situation of power shortage and call authorities and businesses to use electricity in an effective manner.

In December 2011, the Quang Nam People's Committee issued the energy efficiency program. The goal of the program aimed at providing enough power for business and production activities and essential demands of local people. On February 1, 2013, the provincial people’s committee issued Directive 05/CT-UBND to call authorities and businesses to use power in an effective manner. A series of measures to promote, support and propagandize energy-saving solutions has been implemented.

To implement the direction of the provincial people’s committee, almost all customers have well executed regulations on energy-saving. Almost households and businesses have implemented energy-saving solutions to save costs, such as using compact fluorescent bulbs, installing energy-saving devices, such as air conditioners and refrigerators mounted with inverter, switching off lights when not needed, adopting reasonable production plans and minimizing the use of equipment with large capacity during peak hours.

Cooperation regulations between the Quang Nam Power Company and the people’s committee, leaders in the company and the labor federation were deployed in 2012 in order to share responsibility in terms of energy activities. 2013 is the first year deploying action plans to promote and propagandize energy-saving solutions. More than 10,000 students in 18 secondary schools have participated in the energy efficiency and conservation movement. In addition, the electricity sector is signing an agreement with the communal people’s committee to use power in an effective manner and save electricity in schools in the area.

Thanks to energy-saving solutions, Quang Nam Province has saved more than 26.1 million kWh of electricity since 2011. In the first six months of 2013, the province saved 8.78 million kWh of electricity.

It can be said that the energy efficiency and conservation movement has received a positive response from organizations, authorities, businesses, schools and households.
