On the morning of November 25th, as part of the 2nd Exhibition of Energy efficiency product of and renewable energy in Ho Chi Minh city, Ho Chi Minh City Energy Efficiency Center, in collaboration with the project Promoting energy conservation in small and medium enterprises (PECSME), held the Conference reviewing the execution of the project Promoting energy conservation in small and medium enterprises in the 2006-2010 period, in Southern  region.

Pecsme project is funded by the Global Environment Fund through the United Nations Development Program, the Ministry of Science and Technology is the unit responsible for implementation.

The project has been implemented since 2006, with the subjects of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in five sectors: pulp and paper production, ceramics production, textile, brick production and food processing. Until now, the project has had many important results, basically achieved the objectives and drawn a lot of lessons for the implementation of energy conservation activities in SMEs in particular, for the implementation of energy efficiency in general.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hau - Director of the project, after five years of implementation, the project has had 25 organizations of consultancy and technology transfer which have been trained in technical, financial and business knowledge, and are in operation; over 1500 managers and technical staff from SMEs who have been trained in technology application, solutions for energy efficiency and conservation and operation of energy saving technologies and devices. Loan Guarantee Fund has granted guarantees to 50 projects which are worth VND32 billion for businesses to borrow VND41 billion. Over 521 projects have been implemented, saving 180,000 TOE, reducing 740,000 tons of CO2. Energy efficiency market has been formed with the participation of SMEs, energy efficiency services, banks, credit institutions, etc.

In addition, the project has consulted and supported many ministries and provinces to build and complete the policies on energy efficiency, for example, the Law on energy efficiency and conservation; the work of communications of the project has been implemented effectively, and has helped raise the awareness of SMEs and the officials of State management agencies on the importance of energy saving and the implementation of energy saving measures ...
