Sa Giang Import Export JSC (Sa Dec Industrial Zone, Dong Thap) is specialized in producing shrimp chips which have been very familiar to domestic consumers. Since late 2010, as part of the project "Promoting energy conservation in small and medium enterprises", the company has implemented energy audit for the purpose of raising the efficiency of energy use.
Performing all these measures will save nearly 140 thousand kWh of electricity annually, equivalent to more than VND150 million
Through the auditing process, based on the current status of
energy consumption of the company, the energy audit team has proposed seven energy
saving solutions. If the company performs all these measures, it will save nearly
140 thousand kWh of electricity, equivalent to more than VND150 million, and reduce
86 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
Mr. Pham Huu Qua, director of the company, shared: “During the process of producing shrimp chips, the stages of steaming, freezing and drying are the most energy consuming. Currently, the plants is using many kinds of energy including electricity, DO oil, FO oil, coal and gas with the total annual cost of over VND4 billion. To solve the puzzle of reducing production costs, the plant has applied several measures to reduce energy costs. Apart from replacing incandescent light bulbs with energy saving bulbs, the plant has switched to using rice husk woods instead of oil to reduce cost of operating boilers."
Proper management can save at least 4% of energy consumption
Although most of the lighting systems of the plant has been using power-saving technologies, these systems are still causing power loss since they have not taken full advantage of natural light and have been unreasonably arranged. According to experts, the plant needs to install additional separate control groups, install Meca reflectors to enhance the illumination of lights, reduce the number of light bulbs in the areas which already have enough natural light. These measures can save VND8.5 million per year.
The installation of power-eco devices for engines of mixers and
flour pumps can help the plant reduce power consumption by approximately 25 thousand
kWh, equivalent to VND27 million.
The most notable is the solution of managing power consumption. According to experts from the Center of Industrial Promotion and Development Consultancy in Dong Thap, the company needs to build energy-saving policies, along with the commitment of the leaders; establish an energy management group along with building the process of internal management of energy saving, integrate it into the contents of daily works; regularly organize training to raise the awareness of employees. Proper implementation of energy management measures can help the company save at least 4% of electricity consumption, equivalent to about VND85 million.
