Cuban and Vietnamese experts are working together to install new-type biogas producing tanks made from Polyester, which is expected to help local farmers in Cuba get an alternative source of electric power for daily life and production.
The Cuba Biomas Group said these tanks, each measuring 300 cubic metres, will be put into use for the first time in Cuba by the end of this year.
Vietnam has assisted Cuba in developing and applying biogas at households and cooperatives since 2003.
The use of biofuel and electricity from biogas is considered a good method of treating polluting waste from the animal husbandry sector.
With over 300 biogas cellars built with bricks and cement, Cuba saved an equivalent of more than two thousands tonnes of crude oil last year.
