Vietnam saved about 1.31 billion kWh in 2011 accounting for 1.42 percent of the amount of commercial power and exceeding what was planned for the year, said Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).

The production sector saved more than 526 million kWh; families and trading and service facilities saved 548 million kWh; the public light system saved more than 133 million kWh, and the administrative sector saved 130 million kWh, contributing importantly to power sufficiency in the dry season in 2011.
EVN will in the short term ask state administration agencies to strongly develop programs such as energy auditing and power saving.
