In implementing Directive No. 171/CT-TTg on 26-1-2011 by the Prime Minister on strengthening the implementation of power saving, Dak Lak is the best province in the Central Highlands. In 2011, the province has saved 7.9 million kWh, the Ministry of Industry and Trade awarded certificate the province of merit.
Dak Lak Power Company, has an annual supply of around 650-700 million kWh of commercial electricity. The company has always focused on popularization of energy efficiency and conservation. One solution in energy efficiency is to use compact lamps in production, as well as in business activities. Thanks to better promotion of CFLs, from 2010 to present, Dak Lak Power Company sold more than 50 thousand light bulbs. Highlighted enterprise in the quest for power saving is Urban Management and Environmental Sanitation Company from Dak Lak. This company has revised the entire system of public lighting in the city of Buon Ma Thuot, replaced the high pressure bulbs to compact bulbs. Accordingly, the city has reduced from 20 to 25% of power consumption, benefiting the monthly budget of more than 250 million.
Exploring energy saving measures in Ea Pok Coffee Company, Mr. Cao Van Tu, the company Chairman said that in 2010, when the company has yet to implement energy saving measures, total consumption was 869.943kWh. In 2011, the company applied strict measures to save electricity, consumption then fell to 618.317kWh, making 251.626kWh in saving compared to 2010 (corresponding to 213 million VND). The measures applied by the company were various. They are irrigation of 420ha of coffee mainly off-peak hours; setting out rules on the usage of electricity during the day, namely: normal hours accounted for 66%, off-peak accounted for 23.5% and peak time 10.5%; contracting to each department or production unit a fixed rate of electricity usage at 60kWh/team/month, each team excesses this amount will need to pay for the surpass itself; cutting down on 50% of the lighting system and replacing normal electrical devices to energy efficient devices. In particular, in the first three months of 2012, the company only used coffee irrigation pumps during off-peak hours, thus electricity costs on average reduced to 60.7 VND / kWh.
Before the implementation of power saving, each year on average Saigon Beer JSC’s central branch in Dak-lak consumes 900.000kWh, in 2011 it was reduced to 700.000kWh. This branch tok advantage of the heat source and biogas to replace the power and minimize the lighting system, especially at peak hours.
To further strengthen saving power, on March 16 2012, Dak-lak’s People Committee issued Document No. 1302/UBND-CN to direct the implementation of energy saving through: cutting 50% off the balcony lighting in state agencies, offices; reducing 50% of public lighting; cutting down at least 50% of advertising lights, etc...
