The government has ratified a project named “supplying water to Mekong Delta with renewable energy” which is sponsored by the Danish Government with the aid given gratis of DKK 4 billion.
The Vietnamese Government entrusted the People’s Committee of Can Tho city to consider, verify, ratify the project with the Danish Embassy, and to make sure of complying with current regulations on management and use of ODA.
The project attracted the participation of 13 provinces including Can Tho, Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, Bac Lieu, Ben Tre, Long An, Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, An Giang, Vinh Long, Dong Thap and Tien Giang.
Renewable energy driven water supply equipment was installed in the display space to raise the public’s awareness of new modern systems. Thanks to the observational method, the amount of energy saved and the reduction in CO2 emission by using recycled energy system were revealed, which brought more details of the environmental effects of the observational system.
Besides, the water supply with renewable energy system was expected to be widely accepted as a possible efficient water supply source. As a result, the system would be installed in rural areas. It is considered as an effective and economical alternative for electric pumps or diesel engines.
The project helps to raise awareness of solar and wind energy which brings practical benefits to rural areas.
