To
encourage agencies, organizations and people to widely use energy saving devices
and solutions, Tien Giang province has built many pilot models, supported
energy saving solutions in various areas such as office lighting, public
lighting, households, and application in intensive crops.
According
to Mr. Vo Huu Thien, Deputy Director of Energy Saving Centre (Department of Industry
and Trade) of Tien Giang, to achieve the above objectives, the Centre has
installed 324 power-saving lights for: Department of Industry and Trade,
Retirement Club, Branch of Market Management in helping these units to save
41.7% of power compared with the older systems.
In the field of public lighting, the Centre has installed 58 pilot controls to reduce lighting power in off-peak hours for 58 sodium lamps 250W of My Tho city; 24 compact lamps 50W to replace the high-pressure lamps 150W in the lighting system of the internal roads of My Thanh Hung Residents (My Tho city); supported Office of Urban Management, Go Cong town to install 26 saving-energy lights; simultaneously supported 712 controls to reduce lighting power in off-peak hours for other districts.
Mr Le Van Nghia, Permanent Vice Chairman of Tien Giang the People’s Committee
In
addition, the Center is implementing a pilot program "Support households
in energy saving and efficiency" with several practical activities such as
training knowledge on energy saving and efficiency, provision of power-saving
lights, gas-saving devices, installation of solar water heaters, biogas systems...
attracting 263 households to participate, saving 25% on average costs of energy
consumption. In the agricultural sector, the Centre is implementing a pilot
model using power-saving compact lamps 20W instead of 75W incandescent bulbs in
the technique of planting dragon fruit in improper crop at the household of Mr.
Nguyen Van Thanh, Tan My Chanh commune, My Tho city with the number of 100 compact
fluorescent light bulbs. Flowering rate is about 90%, saving 70% of power
consumption.
From
the above results, the Centre has replicated the model to 12 farmer households planting
dragon fruit by allowing them to borrow in rotation 215 compact fluorescent
light bulbs for the dragon area of 7 ha; supported 52 households to buy 20,834
compact light bulbs 20W at the rate of 10,000VND/bulb, with the total fund of
over 208 million. In addition, the Centre has also installed 514 solar water
heaters for the households and units in the framework of the program
"Support organizations and
individuals to use solar water heaters" implemented in the period 2010 -
2014.
To raise
the awareness of energy saving and efficiency for all people, the Centre has
also built an integrated website, which organizes specializing pages,
categories and issues the guidance leaflet on energy saving devices and
solutions. As a result, the province has always achieved or even exceeded the
annual electricity-saving targets. Specifically, in 2008, the province could
save 15.31 million kWh, reaching 110.6%, save 39.34 million kWh in 2013,
reaching 122.9% of allocated quotas. Generally for the past 5 years
(2008-2013), the province has saved 120.75 million kWh of electricity. Thereby,
it indicates the efficiency of the policy to encourage people, entities and
organizations towards energy saving and efficiency.
