Saving to Ease Demand Pressure
Thứ hai, 25/05/2015 - 12:57
In the first 4 months of 2015, EVN-SPC saved over 390 million kWh equivalent to 2.56% of commercial electricity. Meanwhile, EVN-HCMC saves 150.28 million kWh, accounting for 2.51% of electricity consumption.

In the dry season, the demand for electricity increases, especially in the South. Mr. Dang Nguyen Phuong - Deputy of Power Sales Monitoring division of Southern Power Corporation (SPC) says that in the first 4 months of the year, it plans with EVN to generate 16.272 billion kWh, an increase of 11.31% over the same time of last year. It is then estimated that in May, 2015, the power output will reach 4.5 billion kWh, while maximum capacity can reach 7,500 MW, an increase of 8.8% over the same period in 2014.

According to Mr. Phuong, to ensure the sufficient power supply for the dry season, the Southern Power Corporation speeds up the work of sources and grid distribution network, and makes  contingent plans for power supply to fit in each situation. However, to ease the pressure on the power system in general, and in the dry season in particular, the best way is to improve the electricity efficiency, thus power savings.

Currently, EVN-SPC and EVN-HCMC are enhancing the movements in power savings in businesses, schools, residential areas through cooperation programs with the local agencies in the province. Especially, power saving criteria and models are well set for effective application and they can be replicated nationwide.

For example, in the Power Companies of EVN-SPC, there are emulation movements "Power Saving Culture Village" launched with the goal of 5% reduction of the households which do not use filament light bulbs, each household should use at least 3 electric power saving appliances and have good understanding about saving features of the device.

To be recognized as a power savings cultural village, the village has to reduce over 5% of the filament bulbs; over 50% of village households commit to save electricity; the public lighting system must be installed with 100% power saving lamps. The power sector will offer the registry form, upon which the monitoring and tracking could be performed for general assessment and recognition to award the title cultural family, cultural village in power savings.

For the business community, the power sector is also proactive to get the businesses involved and signed in the power saving commitment by provision of consulting service to restructure the electrical system, to make investment in production line with power saving equipment, to re-allocate the office hours for power efficiency, and to reduce power consumption.

Thus, during the first 4 months of 2015, EVN-SPC saves over 390 million kWh equivalent to 2.56% of commercial electricity. Meanwhile, EVN-HCMC saves 150.28 million kWh, accounting for 2.51% of electricity consumption.
