Kazakhstan and Germany to cooperate in energy conservation and efficiency

Kazakhstan Vice-Minister for Investment and Development Albert Rau and the heads of the German Energy Agency Dena - board chairman Andreas Kuhlmann and director Ulrich Benterbusch, signed a memorandum of strategic partnership in energy conservation and energy efficiency in the first Kazakh-German Energy Forum , Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.

Kazakhstan Vice-Minister for Investment and Development Albert Rau and the heads of the German Energy Agency Dena - board chairman Andreas Kuhlmann and director Ulrich Benterbusch, signed a memorandum of strategic partnership in energy conservation and energy efficiency in the first Kazakh-German Energy Forum , Kazpravda.kz correspondent reports.

This Memorandum of Understanding focuses mainly on strategic partnership and expansion of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in energy conservation and energy efficiency, and it also takes into account the issues of economic development, technological modernization, energy and environmental security, transition to green economy, which is achieved through the implementation of energy saving policy and energy efficiency, Dena director Ulrich Benterbusch said.

The parties confirmed mutual interest in strategic partnership and long-term cooperation in the implementation of practical measures and investment projects in energy saving and energy efficiency, initiation of joint research and pilot projects in energy efficiency, development of the market of energy service contracts in Kazakhstan, as well as attracting of investors to Kazakhstan market to implement energy efficiency projects.

The countries intend to share experience, best practices, know-how and information on energy-efficient technologies, to develop strategies to market energy-efficient solutions in electricity, heating and transport, to carry out joint energy efficiency projects in industry, transport, construction, housing and utilities. 

Particular attention is paid to the development of training programs and refresher courses in energy efficiency.
