The Project was deployed in July 2014, up to now, the project has completed the new construction of 156,45km transmission line and renovation of 99,43km of medium voltage line; new construction of 182,51km and renovation of 63,68km low voltage line; construction of 128 substations with a capacity of 4905 kVA and installation of 2,862 electric meters.

Southern General Electricity Company assigned the Southern Project Management Unit (PMU) the mandate to manage the project.
The PMU Ban has been in collaboration with the administration of the Tam Binh district, Tra On, Binh Tan district and Binh Minh town to push up the construction site acquisition and settle the compensation and resettlement to hand over the construction site to the construction company, and to strengthen the construction of two tender packages, achieving the on-the-schedule completion.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Nang, Director of Electricity of Vinh Long, the rural power grids in Vinh Long province has been in operation for almost over 20 years and every year the company performs the renovation and upgrade.
However, the funding is limited, the rural power grid still copes with many restrictions which cause difficulties in operation, power supply, high power loss, no quality assurance. Some areas do not have grid electricity, leading to illegal stealing hooks causing unsafe risk and unreasonable electricity price.
The project "Improvement of Energy efficiency in rural areas of Vinh Long," being put into use contributes to improving the energy efficiency and safety, bringing about the aesthetics of rural power grid, reducing the electricity loss, to meet the sub load demand, contributing to the production, living and economic development of rural societies.
