Supportive Training to Evaluate Cleaner Production in Industry

The training course also helps raise the awareness of the participants on cleaner production, provide them the skills for rapid assessment of the utilization of resources such as electricity, coal, oil, and water.

The Science and Technology Division - Ministry of Industry and Trade has coordinated with JSC EPRO Consultancy Company in the organization of a training course on "Improving practical and counseling skills to support the cleaner production". The course took place during August 19-21, 2015 in Hanoi. The course is designed to guide the officers from the Departments of Industry and Trade and Industrial Extension Centers and industrial development consultants in provinces in adopting the cleaner production in the industrial production facilities.   

Among the attendants, there were Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong - Director of Science and Technology Division - Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ms. Tang Thi Hong Loan - Director of JSC EPRO Consultancy Company, and other experts in Cleaner Production and 31 representatives from 23 provinces and cities.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training, Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong - Director of Science and Technology Division - Ministry of Industry and Trade said: "The strategy of cleaner industrial production to 2020 was approved by the Prime Minister in his Decision No.1419/QD-TTg promulgated on September 14, 2009. The organization of regular training courses to enhance the capacity of the staff of the Industrial Extension Centers, energy conservation centers of the provinces will provide the knowledge and practical skills for rapid assessment of cleaner production in industrial manufacturing enterprises in their localities in order to achieve efficiency and sustainability."

During the training, M.A Nguyen Thi Tuyen - Senior Specialist in Cleaner Production provided the learners with the documents, knowledge of the principles, techniques and production steps to achieve cleaner production in the industry, especially the paper industry and auxiliary industries.

Besides, the training course also helps raise the awareness of the participants on cleaner production, provide them the skills for rapid assessment of the utilization of resources such as electricity, coal, oil, and water so that appropriate measures to increase productivity and to reduce the input could be found and introduced.

The training is an opportunity for the officials specialized in the field of cleaner production to grasp the situations and to make timely decision on introduction of cleaner production into local businesses. The course explores into issues of resource uses and how to lower the environmental pollution, to identify the opportunities for cleaner production, the technological processes, the cleaner production solutions in the paper industry, food processing, and ore mining.
