Oregon-based crystalline-silicon solar manufacturer SolarWorld said on Jan. 29 that it has agreed to form a partnership with Germany’s sonnen Inc. to offer a solar + storage product.
SolarWorld said it will provide fully integrated solar + storage using the sonnenBatterie energy storage system for customers of roofing company PetersenDean.
“Solar has seen tremendous growth over the past decade in the U.S. market, and all signs point to continued growth,” Ardes Johnson, SolarWorld U.S. vice president for sales and marketing, said in a statement. “Energy storage stands at the beginning stages of adoption, and with companies like sonnen driving technology, we see this market achieving a similar growth trajectory as solar.”
The residential and commercial systems offered by sonnen can be used in backup or stand-alone applications, and include remote energy management, peak-shaving, full-home backup, smart-home integration and grid-services features.
Erin Clark, president of PetersenDean’s solar division, said in a statement that sonnenBatteries fit well within the company’s business strategy.
“They’re right in our swim lane,” Clark said. “We are all resolved to offer complete solar solutions that include and promote the arrival of storage.”
