On March 19, 2016, the Southern Power Corporation (EVN SPC) in collaboration with Tien Giang provincial authority launched its Electricity Efficiency Festival 2016 in 2016 in My Tho city with the intended message to "Timely Use of Power at the right place, in the right way to meet the right demands."
Attending the festival were Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Le Phu Hung, Deputy Director of Science, Technology and Energy Efficiency Department, the Southern Power Corporation (EVN SPC), Ministry of Industry and Trade; Mr. Tran Viet Nguyen, Deputy Head of Business Dividsion, Southern Power Corporation; Mr. Nguyen Van Hop, Chairman and CEO of Southern Power Corporation and leaders of provincial departments and agencies, mass organizations and localities in the province.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc, Deputy General Director of Southern Power Corporation said: "For most of the families in the province, now they do not use power-consuming devices anymore, such devices like incandescent lights, for replacement they use compact lamps and recently switched to using LED lamps. Businesses are also making efforts to adjust their production lines, switch to using electricity in low-demand hours, contributed greatly to the power-efficient programs of the Corporation ".
Immediately after the launching ceremony, the representatives of the mass organizations marched along inner city streets, calling for daily practice of power-saving, safety and efficiency in My Tho city. Along with these activities, there was a number of other activities such as the contest to test the understanding, a drawing competition for primary school children about electricity efficiency, a conference on economical and efficient use of energy. It is also reported that for over a month, in preparation for the marching, and festival, the organizing committee had deployed the installation of more than 12,000 advertising panels, banners, slogans bearing the contents on power savings across city streets.
