Thanks to the application of energy-saving solutions, Ninh Binh Fertilizer Co., Ltd., has reaped significant economic benefits, enhancing the competitiveness of its products.
Ninh Binh Fertilizer Limited Company (Ninh Binh Fertilizer Plant) is a key energy user of the Vietnamese chemical industry. With a capacity of 1,760 tons of urea per day (560,000 tons of urea per year), the Ninh Binh Fertilizer Plant supplies urea fertilizer for agricultural production in the Red River Delta and northern provinces.

As one of the key energy users, the company has made great efforts in production management aimed at reducing electricity consumption.
Mr. Pham Quoc Khanh from the Technology Department said: To save energy, the company has rigorously implemented energy audits from which it has developed, implemented, and applied production solutions to reduce electricity consumption, thus lowering production costs.
Specifically, for boilers, the company has changed the operating mode from 4 boilers/4 circulating water pumps to 3 boilers/3 circulating water pumps, a solution that is estimated to save 10% energy. Additionally, optimal load distribution among boilers and operation adjustments are performed.

In the gasification area, the initial IB and SUB ignition systems previously used LPG and DO oil. By 2022, the company had upgraded to a 2-in-1 system, using only DO oil and eliminating the need for LPG for ignition. This solution helps reduce LPG consumption during startup, estimated to save 10 tons of LPG per startup.
Regarding lighting systems, since 2018, the company has replaced incandescent and fluorescent lamps with LED bulbs. By 2023, 100% of the lighting system used energy-saving LED lamps. Also, adjustments have been made to the lighting system's operating times based on light intensity.
Additionally, to save electricity, the company has gradually replaced old air conditioning systems with inverter models; relocated the CO2 discharge area to minimize system downtime, thus increasing load and stabilizing production; applied liquid nitrogen cooling methods to increase cooling efficiency for equipment, enhancing system load by 5-10% during peak months (June to September).
Notably, since the beginning of 2022, the company has been developing an energy management system according to ISO50001:2018 standards. In 2023, the company invested in a rooftop solar power system with a design capacity of 3.8MW aimed at self-sustaining its power supply for production, stabilizing the electrical system, and reducing production costs.
The rooftop solar system meets 3-4% of the plant's electricity consumption needs.
Sharing about energy-saving solutions for the future, Mr. Pham Quoc Khanh mentioned, "We plan to research and implement the use of inverters for some motors that have significant fluctuations in flow and power, which will save electricity for the plant."
Alongside technological investments and internal management solutions, developing policies and plans for energy efficiency and conservation use has also been a focus for Ninh Binh Fertilizer Limited Company. The company has issued documents and regulations on energy-saving for employees; organized training and sent energy management staff to specialized energy-saving seminars.
It can be affirmed that the implementation of energy-saving solutions has contributed to gradually enhancing the production efficiency of Ninh Binh Fertilizer Limited Company and maintaining its position as a leader in the Vietnamese chemical industry.
