Removing the 'bottleneck' of energy auditing for sustainable business development
Thứ năm, 31/10/2024 - 10:18
With insufficient awareness of the benefits of energy audits, many businesses only conduct energy audits as a response to government requests, instead of considering them as a solution to save energy, reduce production costs, protect the environment, and move towards sustainable development.

Energy audits in many businesses are not effective

Energy is becoming a vital issue for humanity, as natural resources are gradually depleted. According to experts, current oil and gas reserves are only enough for about 60 years and coal is enough for another century. Along with that, industrial development constantly requires large sources of energy, while facing the risk of environmental destruction.

Therefore, using energy economically and efficiently has become an urgent task for Vietnamese enterprises on the path to sustainable development.

Implemented over many years, the national target program on energy saving and efficiency has achieved certain results. However, energy audits (EAs) have not yet received a positive response from businesses. The main reason is the lack of awareness of the benefits of EAs. Many businesses only implement EAs as a response to government requests, instead of considering them as a solution to save energy, reduce production costs and protect the environment.

Mr. Pham Hoai Trung - Chairman of GreenGo Advisory Board, Chairman of Azitech Company's Board of Members, presented a paper at the workshop on finding effective greenhouse gas management solutions organized by AmCham and FedEx on October 16 in Binh Duong.

Energy Efficiency is the process of examining, surveying and analyzing the energy flows used in a system, in order to identify areas of energy waste and find optimal solutions. In industrial production, energy efficiency helps reduce energy consumption, maintain or improve capacity and labor productivity, while protecting human health and the working environment.

In reality, the auditing process at many enterprises has not been as effective as expected due to many factors such as the lack of expertise of the auditors and the lack of independence in assessment. In particular, some consulting units provide both auditing services and energy-saving equipment, making the audit conclusions lack objectivity.

Therefore, energy conservation activities in many enterprises today are only at the formal level, not bringing real efficiency in energy saving.

Comprehensive solution in energy auditing

At the workshop on finding effective greenhouse gas management solutions recently organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Amcham), representatives of Azitech Company and GreenGo Sustainable Development Practices Consulting Company shared high-tech solutions to support businesses in saving and effectively managing energy, thereby solving difficulties in energy efficiency.

According to Mr. Pham Hoai Trung - Chairman of GreenGo Advisory Board, Chairman of Azitech Board of Members, Azitech's comprehensive energy auditing and power management solutions are opening up many practical benefits for businesses. Energy optimization helps reduce costs, improve competitiveness, and meet international standards on environmental protection.

This solution can monitor and analyze the electricity consumption of each machine, calculate the carbon footprint of each device, and support businesses to further improve their competitiveness in electricity.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Viet - Scientific and sustainable development consultant of Azitech Company shared about ESG development orientation, greenhouse gas emission reduction, training trends and carbon credit market at the workshop "ESG: Green transformation of textile industry - Challenges and opportunities" in Hanoi on October 24.

Along with that is cost optimization, electrical process optimization, notification of electricity consumption, detection of equipment abnormalities, calculation of carbon emissions...

Solutions to help save energy according to ISO 50001, energy audit according to ISO 50001, carbon audit according to Decree No. 06/2022/ND-CP, greenhouse gas emission inventory report according to ISO 14064-1:2018, develop energy saving and greenhouse gas emission reduction plans according to ISO 14064-1:2018; ISO 14064-2, support the implementation of requirements and methods for determining product carbon footprint according to ISO 14067.

Azitech's solution also supports carbon neutrality verification, CBAM reporting, and the identification of the current behavior of energy sources for IREC clean energy credit verification. The current behavior of energy consumption sources and greenhouse gas emissions under scope 2 is determined to implement continuous improvement processes.

On the sidelines of the event, sharing with Vietnam Business Magazine, Mr. Trung said that every journey to Net Zero, including an important stepping stone of carbon credits, must originate from IoT (Internet of Things).

“Only with IoT can we save and manage energy use effectively. Only with IoT can we monitor, measure and evaluate the current status and behavior of emissions. And only with IoT can we accurately verify the number of carbon credits created and brought to the market for buying and selling,” the expert said.

Mr. Pham Hoai Trung - Chairman of GreenGo Advisory Board, Chairman of Azitech Company's Board of Members participated in the discussion session at the workshop to find effective greenhouse gas management solutions organized by AmCham and FedEx on October 16 in Binh Duong.

This solution uses IoT technology to measure and collect energy consumption data of each machine, calculate carbon emissions and predict equipment life. Azitech also provides notification and warning capabilities when power consumption exceeds thresholds and detects abnormalities, helping businesses minimize risks and optimize production processes.

Azitech's solutions comply with international standards such as ISO 50001 for energy efficiency, ISO 14064 for greenhouse gas emissions inventory, and ISO 14067 for determining product carbon footprints. These standards not only support businesses in the process of energy efficiency but also help to comply with strict regulations on environmental protection and emission reduction.

IoT technology has become the foundation for smart energy solutions, helping businesses monitor and manage energy transparently and accurately.

“Through IoT devices, businesses can continuously monitor carbon emissions, ensuring authenticity when issuing carbon credits on the market. Integrating real-time data management software also helps all employees in the organization see the overall picture of energy consumption, thereby encouraging their creativity and self-awareness in reducing emissions,” Mr. Trung shared.

“However, to achieve optimal efficiency, businesses need to change their perception, seeing energy audit as an important tool to help them develop sustainably, instead of just a coping measure,” noted the Chairman of the GreenGo Advisory Board and Chairman of the Board of Members of Azitech Company.

In the context of non-renewable resources gradually depleting, energy audit is the key for Vietnamese enterprises to optimize production processes, reduce costs and protect the environment. Azitech, with high-tech solutions and the combination of IoT and KTNL, is making an important contribution in promoting enterprises to move closer to the goal of sustainable development and carbon neutrality in the future.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Viet - Scientific consultant, sustainable development of Azitech Company shared at the conference "Connecting Hanoi city enterprises with FDI enterprises, corporations, large enterprises in 2024" to help enterprises and organizations better understand greenhouse gas management.
