Jordan Boosts Industrial Efficiency With 66 New Agreements In Energy Efficiency Program
A significant ceremony at the Jordan Chamber of Industry marked a major step forward in Jordan’s industrial energy efficiency efforts. Hosted by Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and Chairman of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF), the event saw the signing of 66 agreements with industrial establishments benefitting from the Energy Efficiency Technologies Implementation Program.
In attendance were Engineer Fathi Al-Jaghbir, President of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, and Rasmi Hamza, Director of JREEEF, underscoring the strategic importance of collaboration between government and industry in enhancing energy efficiency.
Dr. Al-Kharabsheh emphasized the pivotal role of the industrial sector in driving economic growth and reducing unemployment, highlighting the Ministry’s commitment to easing financial burdens through energy-saving programs. These initiatives are projected to achieve savings of up to 60% for participating industrial establishments.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Al-Jaghbir praised the comprehensive partnership between the Ministry and the Jordan Chamber of Industry, emphasizing the importance of energy audit studies in identifying efficiency opportunities and reducing operational costs. He noted that previous stages of the program had benefited approximately 55 industrial facilities, demonstrating substantial energy-saving potential.
Rasmi Hamza expressed pride in the partnership’s success, which has resulted in the signing of over 60 agreements. He reiterated JREEEF’s dedication to implementing efficient energy practices to combat climate change, thanking stakeholders for their collaborative efforts.
Funded by JREEEF, the Energy Efficiency Technologies Implementation Program aims to enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian industries by reducing energy costs and carbon emissions. The program provides 100% funding for energy audit studies and technical support through the Enhancing Green Activities in Industrial Establishments (GAIN) project, supported by the German agency GIZ and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation (BMZ) in Germany.
The initiative targets various sectors including small and medium enterprises, government buildings, households, agricultural sectors, and energy services companies (ESCOs), aiming to develop sustainable energy practices across Jordan.
With the industrial sector accounting for 16% of Jordan’s final energy consumption in 2022, initiatives like these are crucial for achieving national energy efficiency goals. To date, 48 energy audit studies have been conducted across sectors such as plastics, pharmaceuticals, food, chemicals, textiles, engineering, construction, and wood industries, showcasing significant potential for energy savings and sustainability improvements.
