The training program “Scaling up Energy Efficiency for Managers of Industrial Enterprises in the Cement Industry” took place from October 6 to 9, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City.
Within the framework of the Vietnam Scaling Up Energy Efficiency Project (VSUEE), the training program “Scaling up Energy Efficiency for Managers of Industrial Enterprises in the Cement Industry” was held from October 6 to 9, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City.
This activity belongs to Component 2: Technical Assistance of the VSUEE Project. Through capacity-building activities and in-depth training on energy efficiency, the VSUEE Project aims to help industrial enterprises establish a sustainable foundation, enabling them to proactively implement energy efficiency projects in a practical, effective manner aligned with international best practices. |
Energy efficiency in the cement industry is not only an economic requirement but also a critical factor in the global context of green transition and sustainable development. As one of the most energy-intensive industries, cement production is also a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. Applying energy efficiency measures helps enterprises reduce production costs, lower product prices, improve operational efficiency, and extend equipment lifespan. More importantly, these measures enable companies to meet increasingly stringent environmental standards in key export markets such as Europe, the United States, and Japan, where the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is gradually becoming a new technical barrier in international trade.
Recognizing the global demand and trend toward energy transition, the VSUEE Project designed this training program specifically for enterprise managers in the industrial sector. The course focuses on practical knowledge and skills such as identifying and developing energy efficiency projects, conducting energy audits, performing financial and technical analyses, applying methods for monitoring, reporting, and verifying energy savings, as well as business and marketing strategies.

Trainees of the training program are managers at enterprises in the Cement industry.
For the cement sector, the program also introduced specialized knowledge and energy efficiency solutions, including: Optimizing production processes through technological improvements and operational optimization; Applying waste heat recovery solutions; Using alternative fuels, replacing fossil fuels with biomass; Developing and implementing energy management systems (ISO 50001), ect.
Implementing energy efficiency not only reduces costs but also opens up opportunities to access green financial mechanisms, carbon credit schemes, and technical assistance programs from international organizations. Therefore, strengthening energy management capacity and supporting enterprises in building a green transition roadmap has become an urgent task. This training program was designed to support the industrial sector in general and the cement industry in particular in keeping pace with global trends, accessing financial resources, mastering technology, and gradually integrating more deeply into the global green and sustainable supply chain.
