The Institute for Building, Science and Technology (IBST) on May 12th held a scientific seminar on “The experiences in implementing energy saving and efficiency program of the EU and Bulgaria and the application of energy efficiency meter software in Vietnam.” Participants of the workshop included Mr. Vladimir Moskov, commissioner of Bulgarian Embassy in Vietnam, Prof. Dr Nikola Geargiev Kaloyanov, Vice-Chancellor of Technical University of Sofia, project director and some other experts. On Vietnam side are Assoc. Prof. Dr Cao Duy Tien, director of IBST, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Xuan Chinh, deputy director of IBST concurrently project director, other experts from research institutes and universities and other interested researchers.

commissioner of Bulgarian Embassy in Vietnam, Prof. Dr Nikola Geargiev
Kaloyanov, Vice-Chancellor of Technical University of Sofia, project director
and some other experts. On Vietnam side are Assoc. Prof. Dr Cao Duy Tien,

Worldwide experience has shown that when the structure of a
country’s economy changes and the service sector makes up 40 – 50% of GDP, the
amount of energy used in high buildings will account for 35 – 40% of the total
energy consumption. Given its rapid urbanization, Vietnam will soon face the
extremely higher demand for energy. In Hanoi and
HochiminhCity only, there are hundreds of new
urban areas with high buildings and thousands of offices with the total area of
over 10,000 m2. The annual average amount of power consumption at 1 - 2 million
KWh in buildings requires proper solutions to the issue of energy efficiency
from the architectural design stage to the operation one.
The co-operation project between Technical university of Sofia
and IBST from 2007 to 2010 has gathered meteorological data of Vietnam,
calculated the energy loss of buildings with the meter software, investigated
three particular buildings and assisted the nation in the training of energy
saving experts.
At the seminar, following the speeches of Mr. Vladimir
Moskov and Assoc. Prof. Dr Cao Duy Tien, Prof. Dr Nikola Geargiev Kaloyanov
presented a report on “The experiences on implementing energy saving and
efficiency program of the EU and Bulgaria and the application of energy
efficiency meter software in Vietnam.”
The participants also discussed the reliability of the
related data released by Vietnam
after the project. The application of Bulgarian energy efficiency meter
software in Vietnam
was as well considered.
The seminar enabled the participants to exchange their
knowledge, perception and experience in implementing the energy saving and
efficiency solutions in Vietnam
based on advanced technical methods.
