MOIT reviews science and technology activities in 2006-2010

On 9th September 2010, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) held the Conference on science and technology activities in 2006-2010 period. Deputy Minister Do Huu Hao attended and chaired the meeting.

On 9th September 2010, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) held the Conference on science and technology activities in 2006-2010 period. Deputy Minister Do Huu Hao attended and chaired the meeting.

 

The conference had the attendance of over 150 representatives from related Ministerial agencies and Industries, scientific research institutions, corporations under the MOIT, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology and many press agencies.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hiep, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, said that in recent years, technology has been the driving force of the economic and social development of the country in general and of Industry and Trade sector in particular. Research projects have focused on subjects associated with production, meeting the requirements of market economy, using reasonably and conserve resources and energy, developing domestic raw materials to replace imported sources, innovating and applying modern technologies to bring big economic benefits. In 2006-2010 period, with the science funds, dozens of state-level research projects and over 1300 ministerial-level projects in various fields have been implemented.

 

Besides the achievements, science and technology activities of Industry and Trade sector have also encountered difficulties such as lack of good experts and top experts, as well as investment capital.

 

The conference also had the attendance and speeches of representatives from typical science and technology organizations of the MOIT, including the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Institute of Mining Science and Technology TKV, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, etc.

 

Also at the meeting, the MOIT announced and awarded certificates of merit from the Minister of Industry and Trade for units and individuals with outstanding achievements in science and technology activities in 2006-2010.
