On 24th November 2012, HCM City Energy Conservation Center (ECC HCM) held a seminar on Green Architecture to share useful information about green buildings and to discuss measures to promote the construction of green projects in Vietnam in the office of HCM Department of Science and Technology. The workshop, coordinated by Green Architecture Club, attracted the attention of many, especially architects and architecture students from HCM University of Architecture.
That the conference attracted many participants showed great interest in and appeal of this topic, which is a good sign for Vietnamese architecture. With content on current situation of green architecture in Vietnam, activities to promote the development of green building, the equipment and technology used in green architecture and some typical green buildings in Vietnam Nam and other countries, the conference brought useful information to participants. Besides, the fact that the presenters at the workshop are those with many years of experience in the industry is also another attraction.
The conference brought a genuine perspective and changed the views of the community on green architecture. Previously, many people thought that green construction could be very expensive. In this regard, according to the architect Tran Khanh Trung, green buildings can be constructed at low cost, even lower than average if clean technologies and principles of lighting, ventilation, water reuse and energy efficiency are applied.
