EVN Enhances Power Saving

04/02/2015

In the implementation of Directive 171/CT-TTg dated 01/26/2011 issued by the Prime Minister, Vietnam Electricity has promulgated guidance to its subordinate units to enhance the power savings in 2015.

In 2014, EVN fully met the demand for power of production, businesses and domestic use. The activities in production control and grid operation closely responded to the power demand, contributing to economic recovery and growth. Specifically, the power output of EVN savings in 2014 reached 2.8 billion kWh of electricity, equivalent to 2.23% of commercial output and reached 141% commercial plan, thus all the five corporations have fulfilled the plan.

For 2015, EVN sets the targets for commercial electricity of 141.8 billion kWh, an increase of 10.4% compared with that in 2014, laying a benchmark for the targets of Efficiency and Productivity for the next 5-year period from 2016 to 2020. EVN has been preparing the projected plan to improve the efficiency in business and production and the increase in labor productivity for the period of 2016-2020, to be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval by the end of the third quarter 2015. Accordingly, the control to reduce costs in power generation, the electricity purchase shall be implemented to hit the indicators in energy saving targets.

In order to increase the effective use of power-saving and to help ensure national energy security, EVN has steered its power corporations to continue the implementation of practical measures to maintain their active public promulgation focusing on important multiple thrusts in power saving.

Specifically, the units should promote its propaganda and public communication to raise the public awareness of electricity use with safety, saving, and efficiency for each target group and specific customers; scaling up the propaganda programs targeting at households to use electricity with sense of savings and with efficiency; and supporting  the businesses to get in energy audit.
