On February 7th in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade organized Earth Hour 2015 Launching Campaign at Thong Nhat Park with the technical support of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Danish Embassy in Vietnam.
With the theme "Energy saving - Responding to Climate Change", the event attracted thousands of students and pupils from high schools, universities, colleges and voluntary groups and clubs in Hanoi.

Speaking at the Launching ceremony, Mr. Dang Huy Cuong, General Director of Department of Energy - MOIT, said: "Earth Hour campaign was to create positive changes in perception and actions of people about environmental protection issues, responding to climate change and energy saving. The enthusiastic participation of the students is a good signal showing concerns and responsibility of the youth to environmental issues and sustainable development. I believe that a green generation will contribute to a greener future for the country".

The Earth Hour 2015 launching campaign is designed with a series of attractive activities such as shows with photos on the theme of climate change and energy savings; handmade products booths with theme "Wind farms"; funny games, music, 60+ puzzles along with other fascinating activities.

Also, in the framework of the campaign, the organisers launched a poster design contest in response to Earth Hour 2015. The competition aims to find innovative, meaningful and unique ideas to serve media activities on climate change and on the efficient use of energy resources.
At the event, the organizers announced Earth Hour 2015’s Ambassadors including: HE. John Nielsen - Danish Ambassador to Vietnam, Miss Thuy Van, singers Van Mai Huong, Dinh Manh Ninh and Ta Quang Thang.

After the launching program, sideline activities in response to the campaign will be held during March on a national scale. Expected turn-off–the-lights ceremony will take place from 20h30 to 21h30 on March 28th 2015 at the August Revolution Square with the participation of leaders of the State, Hanoi City, relevant ministries and departments, pupils, students and the public. The program is expected to be broadcast live on Vietnam Television.
