In the morning of March 26, 2015 - the Event namely "Festivity for the Youth of Can Tho in response to Earth Hour 2015" took place in the park "Luu Huu Phuoc", Can Tho City. This is an one-day activity to celebrate the Youth Union Establishment Day anniversary March 26, and in response to  Earth Hour 2015 campaign with the theme "Energy saving - Responding to Climate Change".

The Earth Hour is an annual event, hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade with technical support from the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, and funded by Vietnam Electricity and Daikin Vietnam.

 Thousands of young people congregated at the park Luu Huu Phuoc at early hour of the day for activities in response to  Earth Hour 2015 campaign 

Among the attendants, there were representatives from the People's Committee of Can Tho city, the provincial departments; the Vietnam Youth Union, Can Tho City Communist Youth Corp, the Representative of Southern Electricity Corporation and over 1,000 young people from universities, colleges, clubs and volunteer groups in the province.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Long, the Deputy director of the Provincial Department of Science, Technology and Energy Efficiency, the General Department of Energy, Ministry of Industry and Trade on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade called for the continuous support to the Earth hour 2015 Campaign from organizations, individuals and businesses in Can Tho.

Mr. Nguyễn Văn Long in his speech for steering the festivity 

"Just only with a small action such as turning off the electrical appliances when they are not in use, planting the trees, no littering, limiting the use of plastic bags, we have contributed to energy saving and environmental protection. I believe that the active participation of the youth and students in Can Tho will contribute to the propagation and awareness for local communities about energy saving and environmental protection. It is also the major contribution to the joint efforts of Vietnam and the world in response to Earth Hour, heading towards a sustainable development for the future".

In the program, many exciting activities took place such as  Cycling  parade in response to Earth Hour, flash mob dance, mass game 60+. Shortly after the event, hundreds of union members went about to stick the communication posters, to hand out the leaflets in response to Earth Hour 2015 campaign.

In recent years, Can Tho has always been one of the leading provinces in the country to use the energy with saving and efficiency. Many activities are coordinated by the city authority, and deployed by the Local Center for Energy and Electricity savings, such as "Family Model in power savings", "Hamlet of Culture in power savings", "Writing Contest about power savings"," Street Route in power savings".

It is planned that for 1 hour in response to Earth Hour Campaign, from 20h30 to 21h30 on March 28, 2015, the people will switch off the lights simultaneously in various public places, government offices, and headquarters of enterprises in the Can Tho city.
