Vinh Long Electricity Company recently held a review workshop to commend on electricity efficiency in 2014 and to deploy the 2015 action plan for electricity efficiency.

For attendance, there were 90 delegates from Vinh Long Department of Trade and Industry; the mass organizations committed in collaboration: the Fatherland Front Committee, Veterans’s Union, Women's Union, Federation of Labour, Farmers’ Union, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Vinh Long Province; representatives of 10 new rural communes participating in the "Households using energy with saving and efficiency"; 15 agencies and enterprises are rewarded; the Board of Directors of the Company, the Office of Power Sales Monitor, the Chairman of Trade Union of the Company, Secretary of the Youth Union Committee, and Heads of affiliated units.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tho - Director of the Department of Trade and Industry Vinh Long acknowledged the efforts and achievements of the Electricity Company of Vinh Long in saving electricity in 2014, and gives instructions to steer Vinh Long Electricity Company to further strengthen the collaboration with other organizations, unions, local governments in advocacy, communication for electricity efficiency among the community.

In 2014, Vinh Long Electricity Company in collaboration with the mass organizations conducted 14 training courses on the use of power with efficiency, involving the participation of 1,311 members. The Company also coordinates with the junior high schools and secondary schools, in the province to disseminate the materials, communication printing matters, and to organize the wit contest/quiz on the use of electricity for 16,588 students through 32 sessions. The Company prints the manual on electricity efficiency with 20,000 copies for dissemination; it also sets up 59 billboards (including 1 large sized billboard near the My Thuan Bridge) to promote electricity efficiency in the area under the coverage of power sales management.

At the same time, the company has collaborated with the Local Radio – Television to broadcast 674 on-air transmissions about the efficient use of electricity. It is also accompanied by the promotion for changing the use of incandescent lamps into economical compact bulbs for domestic lighting with 9,536 bulbs to be replaced.

The company also cooperates with local authorities to celebrate the signing ceremony to be the "Hamlet / Village of Culture in Power Efficiency in 2014," there are 34 hamlets – villages with 3,463 households in registration for enrollment in the program. In addition, the company collaborates with the Department of Industry and Trade of Vinh Long province to run training courses in using energy with efficiency, for 433 households in 10 new rural communes. As a  results, the power savings in 2014 is 34 million kWh; corresponding to 5.6% of commercial electricity; which is 252% exceeding the planned assignment.

Also at the workshop, the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Vinh Long province awards the certificates of merit to 15 agencies, enterprises which has applied the solutions for power efficiency in their production; 45 collective teams and 157 individuals who have shown good performance in steering, coordinating, advocating and practising the electricity efficiency in Vinh Long province in 2014.
