The dry season is at its peak, with prolonged drought, and increasing electricity demand. How to ensure sufficient electricity for production is not a small challenge at all for the Southern Power Corporation (EVN SPC).
Load spike
According to EVN SPC, during the peak months of the dry season, the load often spikes. Therefore, to ensure the power supply for the dry season and the entire year 2015, EVN SPC has continued to implement many construction projects of 110 kV network expansion, and medium and low voltage transformers. In some areas, it is essential to put 220 kV transformer stations in operation, (Tay Ninh and Vung Tau ...) to prevent overload for the line 110 kV, and voltage fall on 110 kV low voltage. Besides, to increase the reliability of power supply, preventing overload and meeting the new load, many new works are put into operation such as Hon Dat 110 kV - 40 MVA, Binh Thanh - 40 MVA, An Phuoc - 40 MVA.
According to Mr. Ho Quang Ai, deputy general director of EVN SPC, to follow the instructions of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for securing electricity supply in 2015, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) shall ensure no load reduction. In addition to rational planning of power supply, EVN SPC is implementing investment projects as assigned by EVN: 3 stations of 220 kV (VND 419 billion), 104 grid works of 110 kV (VND 1,926 billion), electricity distribution networks (VND 1,809 billion); simultaneously it is to raise the capacity and to install the transformer 2 to prevent overload such as the 110 kV station in Can Tho, Dong Xuyen, Vinh Long, and Di Linh.
To boost power saving
To cope with power shortages during the dry season, to ensure sufficient electricity for the whole year of 2015, in addition to structural and operational measures, EVN SPC is also promoting power-saving programs. From the beginning of 2015, EVN SPC aims to reach and exceed the targets of 2% energy saving compared with commercial power production and to complete the power saving programs and plans in 2015 as assigned by EVN. Along with it, it is to improve the communication on economical and sufficient use of electricity in the area of business management within EVN SPC. Then, it is to link the communication activities on power-saving to safety and to enhance the customer service practice.
