Power loss not only reduces the quality of power supply but also affects business outcome greatly. Therefore, the reduction of power loss has always been a top concern of Northern Power Corporation (EVN-NPC).
To accomplish the objective of power loss reduction, right from the beginning of the year, the units of the Corporation determined to implement the rules, regulations, and other economic indicators - the assigned nominal techniques, ensuring of the operational machinery of the Corporation functioning through departmental offices of the Corporation to its facilities, from leadership to staff. Specifically, the units already deployed several measures to reduce energy loss, adjusted in each region on the basis of a combination of operational management, technical measures, business execution, and investment in the construction work of the power grid, implementation of technical solutions to prevent the risk of breakdowns and to strengthen the management of power measuring system. They periodically replace meters in compliance with life cycle calculation. It is to measure the current and to calibrate the phases of transformers to avoid de-phasing. The distribution transformers are also shifted on a monthly basis to prevent under loading and/or over overloading.
In addition, EVN-NPC has deployed several synchronized solutions such as: installation of 200,000 RF meters and installation of automatic remote reading (AMR) for 17,000 meters. The company also deploys the 2015 Reactive power compensation Project for the low and medium voltage grid to be completed in second quarter of 2015, which will contribute to reducing the energy loss ratio by 0.04%. The on-going rehabilitation of grid is carried out for 6kV, 10 kV to 22 kV, 35 kV grid; together with continued renovation and upgrading of low voltage grid in rural areas.
Accordingly, EVN-NPC further enhances its role in monitoring over electricity trading, scheduling the inspection of the electricity use and of realistic implementation. It is to search for information from the people, and retail sales services to facilitate the inspections. The company also increases random inspections, especially night checks, with the operation of a subcommittee being in charge of energy loss reduction to perform at least one sudden inspection at night per week or month. The inspection and the oversight on power purchase have actively contributed to reducing energy losses to a level exceeding the assigned targets.
With the above efforts, EVN-NPC would strive to hit the energy loss reduction targets to 6.9% in 2015.
