Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation reveals that the first electric bus route of the city will be put into operation in June 2015.
Ten electric buses will be operated on routes inside the city center, covering streets of Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Hue, Hai Ba Trung, and Le Duan ... The bus route links to pedestrian streets and well-known spots such as the zoo, the Notre Dame Cathedral, Ho Chi Minh Campaign Museum.

As scheduled, a bus will depart every 15 minutes and has a carrying capacity of 12 passengers. For the commissioning period, the bus will run at fixed hours in the day. In the future when the route is extended and connected to underground parking, such as the ones in streets Le Van Tam, Tao Dan, the operation time will increase to 24 hours a day.
The introduction of electric buses into public transportation will help save energy through minimizing the number of personal vehicles. In addition, this type of vehicle is also environmentally friendly with no noise and no harmful emissions.
