According to forecasts, this year, the hot and sunny weather will last longer, with significant impacts on the environment, especially water resources. Therefore, power savings is no longer only the task of electricity industry but also of common public concerns.

Multiple forms under deployment

During recent years, Quang Nam province has been stirred up by many lively forms of communication on power saving, initiated and organized by Quang Nam Power Company. These forms include motorcycle, bicycle parades on power saving in Tam Ky town, Hoi An town; thus hanging banners, billboards, leaflets are continuously held for many years. Some new forms are deployed in the past two years, such as: communication on power saving in schools, the organized competitions of "save energy at the workplace" and "power-saving family".

For each form of communication, Quang Nam Power Company directs it towards different specific targeted objects such as people, government employees, students grades 2 and 3, families, corporate bodies to intensify the effectiveness. Thus, the saved power has been improved from year to year, either to meet or to exceed the targets assigned by EVN-CPC.

Enterprises, manufacturing facilities cannot stay on the sidelines

Currently, in Quang Nam province there are over 20,000 enterprises including small production facilities. These units consume relatively large power. Most business owners and manufacturers are aware of power savings. Therefore, many years ago, the business had developed programs for economical and efficient use of energy. They also have the energy audit and consumption reported,  and they apply measures for rational  and efficient use of electricity.

Quang Nam Power Company also frequently promotes the rational use of electricity to help enterprises reduce costs of production and running business and contribute to a stable supply, in compliance with the policy of power savings upheld by the Party and State. The company also focuses on provision of advice for enterprises on measures to save energy. First it is to strengthen the management, the energy management systems to control power consumption in the production; reasonable production line layout, utilization of natural  lighting conditions, natural ventilation; restrict the no-load mode, peak load switched into off-peak or normal hours. The company also disseminates information on new technology, energy labeled electrical equipment, to help enterprises with energy saving knowledge, to actively change into new technology such as compact florescent light bulbs in lighting, converter used in electric motors.

Given a large number of enterprises in the province, the power saving will become effective if the enterprises do not stay on the sidelines. Despite many difficulties, power saving should be properly addressed by enterprises and business units with due attention. Each enterprise can have a specific different application, consistent with the characteristics of the unit to gain as much profit as possible.
