Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) announced that in April 2015, the national grid was in stable supply to meet the demands of socio-economic political activities, business production and domestic demands.
As of April, the total production of commercial electricity in the country reached 49.25 billion kWh, an increase of 11.31% over the same period in 2014.

To implement the power-saving program, in April, EVN directed its affiliated units to strengthen the power saving practice in the South.
The 4-month accumulated balance of the saved electricity as estimated by the Corporation reached 947.17 million kWh, equal to 2.25% of commercial electricity.
In May 2015, the expected load of the entire power system can reach 463 million kWh/day, the maximum capacity of about 24,780 MW. EVN informed that the power system capacity is sufficient to meet the load demand including the stand-by capacity.
Facing the ongoing drought in the southern provinces, EVN continues to maximize the operation of thermal power plants and gas turbined power plants to ensure power supply to the South and to maintain the water levels in hydropower reservoirs. At the same time, hydropower reservoirs will be operated under control to ensure the water requirements in the downstream areas, especially in the southern central coastal provinces where severe droughts occur.
