On July 1st, 2015, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Minister Vu Huy Hoang met and worked with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Korea in Vietnam.
At the meeting, South Korean Ambassador Jun Dae Joo sincerely thanked Minister Vu Huy Hoang for spending his time on the reception. On this occasion, the Ambassador suggested the two sides should further promote the implementation of the cooperation agreements in the energy sector, namely the collaboration in the pre-feasibility report (Pre- FS) for the nuclear power plant Project in Vietnam, which had been mentioned by the two governments during the 3rd Session of the Vietnam - South Korea Inter-governmental Committee in 2012.

In response to the opinion of the Ambassador, the Minister also said that on June 11, 2015, EVN received the pre-feasibility Report (Pre- FS) for the nuclear power plant Project prepared by the Korean side. This report is under appraising process and the General Department of Energy will conduct the evaluation and make report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade during the first week of July, 2015.
In addition, the Minister appreciated the role of the Subcommittee on Nuclear Power, Energy and Industry that has supported very much the cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries in recent years.
To conclude the meeting, the Minister acknowledged the comments of the Ambassador on nuclear cooperation between the two sides, and he requested that the General Department of Energy regularly update the situation, communicate with the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO ) on relevant issues. At the same time, the Minister suggested that the Korean government soon complete the internal procedures to quickly approve the Vietnam- Korea Free Trade Agreement (VKFTA).
