With the aim of raising awareness of organizations and individuals to use energy to make changes from awareness into concrete action in energy-savings and efficiency, recently, the Quang Tri provincial People's Committee promulgated Decision No. 1466/QD-UBND regarding the program on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy in the province during 2015-2020. 

The main content includes activities that encourage, promote and propagate in the community; the scientific research activities, management measures and technical measures for synchronization of solutions to save energy, reduce energy costs for more effective exploitation of resources for economic development, political security, social order, environmental protection and energy security of the province.

Public Propagation of electricity savings

Specifically, through the activities, there is a target by 2020 to save 5-8% of total energy consumption in use. For agencies and units using state budget and public service units in the province, they should make a saving of 10% or higher of annual electricity consumption; annual savings of at least 2-3% of the energy used in industrial production and at least 5% of the electricity used for daily life.

In the construction field: it is mandatory to follow to the Vietnam construction standards on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy; from 2016 onwards 100% of the new buildings or renovation must comply with the regulations on energy saving.

Enterprises that import, manufacture and distribute the vehicles and equipment on the list of energy labeling must apply minimum energy efficiency as specified by law to comply with the regulations on energy labeling. The management is required to organize the transport networks, urban lighting in modern, civilized manner to reduce the total energy consumption. It is also to manage the demand of electricity, to promote power savings in electricity transmission, distribution, trading and use of electricity; to encourage organizations and individuals to use renewable energy, new types of energy.

To strictly implement this program, tit is needed to focus on promoting the communication and dissemination of information and knowledge in order to raise the awareness of the community about the Economical and Efficient Use of Energy, the new energy sources, alternative energies and usage. At the same time, it is to encourage the participation and implementation of the projects and projects on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy, to produce energy-saving products, the application of cleaner production; forms of energy without environment pollution, new energy, renewable energy.

For particular reason, the electricity sector should work in collaboration with relevant agencies to organize the implementation of measures aiming at reducing electricity losses in electricity transmission, distribution and trading of electricity; to organize contests for "power saving family" in the province, in collaboration with relevant organizations to promote Economical and Efficient Use of Energy.
