In recent years, with the efforts of the Can Tho City Electricity Company and the related authorities, the communication, and implementation of practical power-saving models have been well performed. Then, the power saving policy of the State has really come to life of all classes of people in the Can Tho city with positive responses.

Implementing the State policy on power saving, the Can Tho City Electricity Company  has closely worked in collaboration with the departments and mass unions to deploy many synchronized solutions. Accordingly, the company focused on the public communication in various forms, such as flyers, brochures and manuals bearing meassges about electricity savings; the company also organized competitions, training sessions about economical use of electricity. At the same time, many power-saving models were tried, such as power-saving family, power saving culture in villages/area. Through these activities, the power savings movement gradually has been embeded in life, with the positive changes in awareness in the safe, economical and efficient use of power. Thus, there are good practices, innovative implementation of energy-saving and efficiency from households to businesses, and offices.

Encouraged by the Models "Power Saving Family," "Hamlet /cultural sector with power saving", the households from urban to rural areas gradually change the habit of using electricity and electrical appliances in the home. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Trung An commune, Co Do district, said: "At first, people thought that power saving means stop using electricity. But when officers from Women's Union, Can Tho City Electricity Company came to us with the communication, we now clearly understand that electricity saving means refraining from using or using electricity properly". Besides learning how to use the existing electrical equipment effectively and economically, the people prefer devices with power-saving features when shopping. The product lines with electricity saving capacity are mandatory to bear energy labeling, showing the saving level on every product, so that customers can easily distinguish them from other conventional products.

Not only saving energy in daily activities, many farmers are interested in solutions to save energy in production. Mr. Trinh Van Chau Nhan, head of Political Propaganda, Can Tho City Farmers' Union, said: "The FU members are excited to participate in saving electricity. Because it not only reduces the monthly electricity bill, in production to help farmers, it also reduces input costs, bringing in higher profits. 

The policy of electricity saving embedded in households and replicated widely in the community is not only a goal of the power sector but also the social interest, attracting the participation and response of businesses in the city. Businesses raise the awareness by actions, real solution in production and business activities, as reflected in labor codes, including regulations that require time-off lights, rational use of air conditioning, and operational process of production line.

Many businesses have actively applied electricity-saving measures such as modification of old equipment or replacement with new machinery and advanced technology with lower energy consumption. In addition, many businesses focus on its improved management, energy management system. Typically, some of them from the list are the Viet Thanh Garment Exports Ltd., Meko Garment Joint Stock Company, Southern Fishery Industries Ltd. Co.opmart Malls, and Big C Mall. Several businesses in the restaurant - hotel sector also start to build energy efficiency building. 

Recently, the public communication programs operated by the Can Tho City Electricity Company in collaboration with the departments and localities have been effective and positive for power savings. The advocate for power savings is no longer just a task of a sector or a certain level, but also a planned tendency that comes into life. It is possible to say that the efficiency in power savings is derived from power-saving models, which in effect produce a change in the perception of the people to take practical action. With these achievements, the movement will increasingly generate power savings pratice to make it pervasive in the community. Thereby, it also means a contribution into energy saving, lower costs for families, and businesses, and environmental protection.
