On September 4, 2015, in Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen Province, the Provincial People's Committee organized the Review Meeting on the 5 year program to save energy in the province. Phu Yen Power Company is one of four units in Phu Yen province which is awarded the merit for outstanding achievements in the implementation of economical and efficient use of energy in Phu Yen province Phase 2011-2015.

Raising awareness about energy savings

For the past 5 years, the average annual investment of Phu Yen Power Company is over VND400 million on power saving proactive communication. With this effort, the company coordinated with the Phu Yen Department of Industry and Trade in the implementation of the Directive 171/2011 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the implementation of power savings, Directive No. 05/2013 of the Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee on electricity savings in the dry months of 2013 and the subsequent years.

So far, the activities in response to Earth Hour campaign with the slogan "Turn off the lights for 60 minutes, 365 days of action for climate change"; with operations of hanging banners, flags and billboards, posters, demonstrative parades "Week of Power Saving" have become a regular activity of the Phu Yen Power Company and familiar with people.

Phu Yen Power Company signed a cooperation agreement with Phu Yen Provincial Youth Union on joint collaboration in dissemination and extensive communication to the unionist units and deployment of power saving program "Lighting the countryside roads"; it organized inspections on the use of energy for large consumers and major energy users in collaboration with the Department of Industry and Trade to identify and advise the users on cases of inefficient use of power resulting in wasteful use; and advised and promoted the power savings energy labeled products.

The propagation on economical use of electricity is not only performed by Phu Yen Power Company, this program has been also responded by many other units. Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoai, Deputy Head of Economics Office of Son Hoa district, said that Son Hoa District People's Committee in collaboration with the Electricity of Son Hoa (Phu Yen Power Company) and the Town/Communal People's Committees performed the checks along the grid right of way for safety, protection of the grid. They also encouraged the enterprises, production establishments to renovate the production equipment to improve energy efficiency. For its electric lighting system, the district has applied the energy saving products and optimized the system operation.

No rotating power cuts, to reduce the burden of investment

Mr. Tran Tuan Bao said, over the years to strengthen the communication on economical and efficient use of energy, with the motto "longer rains soaked the framing lumber", the power saving consciousness of the majority of organizations, workers in the province has been significantly improved, contributing to the country's efforts to ensure adequate electricity supply to the business and production activities, not having to rotate the power cuts as a result of electricity outage, reducing the burden of investment into construction of electrical works in the conditions of limited capital.

In the evaluation of the communication activities for economical and efficient use of energy, Mr. Nguyen Khoa Trinh, deputy director of Phu Yen Power Company says that the communication activities in power savings is now a actual action in a series of campaigned implementation "Study and Follow the Ethical Example of Ho Chi Minh" in thrifty practice and combat against corruption and wastefulness. Along with power savings is the self-discipline expenditure, good storage and maintenance of tools, ensuring no damage or loss; strict management of stationery, the purposely right use the phone. The influence of the movement brings in more results to these activities.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuan, deputy director of Phu Yen Department of Industry and Trade commented: "For this program to bring in higher efficiency, there should be regular coordination of all levels and sectors in order to raise the awareness and power saving habits for the people and businesses in the area; enhanced inspection and monitoring over the energy usage of the manufacturing enterprises".
