Nationwide Journalism Awards for Communicative Messages on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy the 2014 Eighth Round

Vietnam Journalists' Association and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have officially announced 32 works winning the nationwide journalism award "Communicating to raise awareness of Economical and Efficient Use of Energy 2014".

Vietnam Journalists' Association and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have officially announced 32 works of winning the nationwide journalism award "Communicating to raise awareness of Economical and Efficient Use of Energy 2014".

The 32 works within 4 categories: the print, the electronic media, the radio and television won nationwide journalism awards "Communicating to raise awareness of Economical and Efficient Use of Energy 2014". Class A Prizes  belong to the authors: Nguyen Dai Duong with his article "Power Savings to Save Oneself" (printed press); Tran Ngoc Tho for "Minh Phu Seafood Corporation: Billions saved each year" (electronic press); Mai Hoa with a series of articles on Earth Hour and Power Savings (radio) and Nhu Suong for "Supporting the Enterprises to Save Energy" (Television).

The press prizes "Communicating to raise awareness of Economical and Efficient Use of Energy 2014" received hundreds of contesting works with the participation of numerous reporters, journalists and collaborators, information officers and professional members of the local and central press agencies. Through the preliminary evaluation round, 45 works of 4 types of media: television (10 works), radio (8 works), electronic newspapers (13 pieces) and newspapers (14 works) were selected to go forward to the final round.

Among the 32 authors and groups having been selected for the awards, the Prize Class A were given to 4 works (respectively 4 existing forms of the media, as stated above, worth VND 10 million each); Prize Class B were given to 8 works (VND 7 million each); and Prize Class C were given to 12 works (each prize is worth VND 5 million) and 8 consolation prizes (each prize is worth VND 2 million).

In evaluation of the quality of the contesting works this year, Mr. Tran Ba ​​Dung - Member of the Standing Committee, the Operation Chief Officer of Vietnam Journalists' Association said: "This year, the works cover various regions, sectors, issues of energy savings. The Council received the professional articles, reportage and TV, radio and electronic works which reflect the breath of life in the practice of energy savings. In particular, there are works whose discovery properties introduce good practice models and implementation methods with effectiveness ".

Trinh Quoc Vu, Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Energy Efficiency, General Department of Energy, Ministry of Industry and Trade said: "Through the awarding, we appreciate the participation of the media agencies in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the other ministries in promoting the success of the national target program on economical and efficient use of energy. Through the awarding, we wish to encourage and promote the journalists, the reporters from news agencies, the press to further enhance the propagation and dissemination of experience and knowledge in practical implementation models and solutions for economical and efficient use of energy".

The Evaluation and Nationwide Press Award Ceremony of "Communicating to raise awareness of Economical and Efficient Use of Energy 2014" is scheduled to be held on October 09, 2015 in Da Nang.
