Nghe An Invests USD1.4 Million in Energy Efficiency Programme 2016-2020

On October 16th, under the host of the head of People's Committee, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien, a meeting about energy efficiency programme in Nghe An, 2016-2020 was held. 

After nearly 5 years of implementation of Decision No.1061 dated April 6th 2011 of the People's Committee about energy efficiency scheme in Nghe An, from 2012, despite the lack of investment, 88 million kWh has been saved, exceeding 4% of target.

Deploying the Law on Energy Efficiency in 2010 and Decree No. 21/2011/NĐ-CP, Nghe An formulated a scheme of energy efficiency all over the province, aiming at saving a total of 6-9% of energy consumption from 2016 to 2020.

Head of Department of Information and Communication of Nghe An emphasized that communication of energy efficiency should be united and frequent. To be more specific, Deputy Chief of Nghe An People's Committee, Mr. Trung Thanh Cong suggested that a website specializing on energy efficiency communication should be built for citizens and enterprises.

In the sector of public lighting system, replacement of traditional lights having high capacity to LED energy-saving lights will be done by 2020 in Vinh city and other towns, Targeting at decreasing total energy consumption in public sector by 25% by 2020.

Total expenditure of this scheme is nearly USD 1.4 million, including approximately USD1.3 million from the province budget and about USD160 thousand from organizations and enterprises in the province.

Concluding at the meeting, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien acknowledged afford of branches in developing schemes, promulgating documents, focusing on communication and having been achieved primarily positive results.

However, the communication has been still inadequate. Therefore, the result is still low. In the upcoming time, it is necessary for all of branches to join together, especially the Department of Trade and Industry of Nghe An.
