Three months ago, Tien Giang province continuously embarked on programmes of “Hamlets and Streets of Power-saving Culture 2015” in several areas such as Go Cong, My Phong or Cai Lay and set a target of saving power at 10 percent compared to the previous year.

On October 15, 2015, Power Company of Go Cong Town in collaboration with Department of Economics of the town held the launching ceremony of Hamlets and streets of power-saving culture 2015 through the application of power-saving solutions with the target of saving 5% or more of power consumption.
In order to implement the programme effectively, towards individuals, households and home-scaled facilities of production and service were required to achieve the target of 6-10% of power saving compared to the power consumption of the previous year; towards collectives, above 80% of households and home-scaled facilities of production and service were required to achieve the target of 6-10% of power saving; towards the whole hamlet and streets, 5% or more of power saving must be achieved.
Tien Giang strives for not using incandescent lamps, installing and using power-saving equipment such as compact lamps, solar-powered water heaters, public lighting systems installed under criteria of power saving; each hamlet and street has at least 1 propagandist of power saving.
In addition, Veterans Association in cooperation with Political Training Center of Go Cong Town opened a training course of professional qualification for over 30 staff of the Board of officers of former servicemen’s club of 12 communes, wards. All the trainees were informed about the results of the seventh Party Committee’s Congress of Go Cong Ward in the term of 2015-2020.
The training contents include the position and role of former servicemen in the development of economy, culture, society, defense and security of the region, mobilizing servicemen to actively participate in building new countryside and urban civilization.
Launching ceremonies of the programme of “Hamlets and streets of power-saving culture 2015” were organized in other areas of Tien Giang province such as My Phong ward (September 11, 2015), district and town of Cai Lay (June 29, 2015).

In which, Cai Lay Power Company strives for achieving high targets in the power-saving movements of the region such as 80% or more of households saving from 6% to 10% of power consumption; 80% of households and home-scaled facilities of production and service in the hamlet achieving the above mentioned target of power saving; the whole hamlet saving 5% or more of power in comparison with it in the previous year; no circumstances of using incandescent lamps; installation and usage of power-saving equipment such as compact lamps, solar-powered water heaters.
