DakNong striving for 100% Villages and Hamlets Connected to the National Grid by 2020

Electricity supply not only promotes the socio-economic development, but also changes the lives of thousands of households and ethnic minorities.

DakNong Province is located in the southwest of the Central Highlands with an average population of 513,000 people. In recent years, the province has made great efforts to bring electricity to rural and remote areas and the border populated by the ethnic minority. By 2020, DakNongplans to bring the national grid electricity to all the villages and hamlets and most of the rural households in the province for them to use.

Reportedly, by the end of 2015, 771 out of 777 villages and hamlets (nearly 100%) of DakNong province has national grid, more than 135,000 households had access to electrical power, accounting for about 94% of the provincial population. Electricity supply not only promotes the socio-economic development, but also changes the lives of thousands of households and ethnic minorities.

Besides focusing on investing in projects that improve energy efficiency in rural areas, the DakNong electricity sector also initiating several electricity projects to upgrade rural power grid for completion. Taking last year for example, DakNong Power Company built 34 new head works with the investment amount of over VND100 billion and renovated and repaired 49 works of rural power grids.

With these efforts in investment into and renovation of works of the electric power sector, the objective set forward by DakNong Power sectorthat by 2020 all villages and hamlets in the province connected to the national grid can be fully achieved.
