On February 16, 2016, Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee promulgated the Official Letter No. 4294/UBND-KTN to steer the power saving operation to ensure stable power supply, security, and to serve the needs of production - business and socio-economic development, national defense – social order and the essential daily needs of the people in the province.
Accordingly, the Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee assigned the Director of Industry and Trade Department to take the lead, in collaboration with the Vinh Long Electric Power Company, the heads of the relevant units to build and implement the programs, plans and solutions for power efficiency, to propose energy saving program for the period 2016 - 2020, power saving plan in 2016; to organize the necessary inspection, testing, and timely handling of cases of failing to implement the power-saving measures as it had been prescribed.
The Official Letter also directs the administrative and professional bodies to continue to promote the implementation of power saving, to register with plans to save 10% of annual electricity consumption. In procurement of new electrical equipment or replacement of old damaged equipment, they will take into account the use of those devices which bear the energy label (energy efficiency).
On the part of the business and production facilities, it is necessary to build up practical solutions for economical and efficient use of electricity, ensuring the correct use of power capacity and load charts; encouraging the businesses, production and trade establishments to cut down at least 50% capacity of advertising lighting, outdoor decorations in the evening peak hours, after 22h it is to minimize the light illuminated advertising hoardings and large plates. It is also to coordinate with Vinh Long Power Company for entering additional agreements on electricity supply, to work in preparation for reserved power sources, and to built a detailed scenario in case of load reduction as a consequence of power shortage.
