Central Vietnam to receive EUR4.5 million for grid modernization

Central Power Corporation (EVNSPC) and supplier ABB Oy - Finland organized kick-off ceremony of Miniscada/DMS System for Tam Ky and Plei Ku cities projects on 7th March 2016. Attendants included Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong - Deputy Minister of Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ms. Lenita Toivakka - Minister for European Affair and Foreign Trade and delegates from other units.

At the ceremony, Ms Lenita Toivakka said Vietnam and Finland has established bilateral partnership for nearly 40 years. Ever since 1998, Finland has offered Vietnam soft loans and non-repayable grants to implement 20 projects in various fields such as environment, health, water and energy.

Currently, 3 projects are being implemented and 4 projects are about to kick off with the total value of EUR57 million.

At the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong - Deputy Minister of Ministry of Trade and Industry hoped to receive more support from Finland Government so Vietnam’s power sector can boost investment for grid modernization.

MINISCADA/DMS system for Tam Ky and Plei Ku Cities Projects are expected to complete in the second quarter of 2018. Finland will offer Vietnam an ODA loans of EUR 4.5 million to build MINISCADA/DMS system for the grid of Tam Ky and Plei Ku basing on development roadmap of Vietnam’s power system.
