Industrial steam system optimization training course in the Southern of Vietnam

26/03/2024

On the morning of March 25, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) inaugurated a training course on optimizing steam systems in the industry for participants from the Southern region.

The training course is one of the activities under the Awareness Raising and Capacity Building Program of the project "Accelerating energy efficiency in large industries through energy management system, system optimisation and the promotion and adoption of energy efficiency in SMEs" (IEEP project), implemented by MOIT and UNIDO during the 2023 - 2027 period. The project is a component of the Sustainable Energy Transition Program of Vietnam - EU (SETP), funded by the European Union.
Attending the opening of the training course were Mr. Hoang Viet Dung, Representative of the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development - Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ms. Pham Thi Nga, Technical Advisor - IEEP Project; and Mr. Riyaz Papar - UNIDO's seasoned international expert on system optimization.
Mr. Hoang Viet Dung, representing the Department of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Development - Ministry of Industry and Trade, delivered the opening speech for the training course in HCMC.
In his opening speech for the training course, Mr. Hoang Viet Dung emphasized: The goal of the Vietnam National Energy Efficiency Programme for the 2019 – 2030 period is to achieve a savings of 5-7% of the total national energy consumption for the period 2019-2025 and 8-10% for the period 2025-2030. The application of energy management systems according to ISO 50001, combined with the system optimization solutions that the IEEP Project is promoting, will contribute to achieving the goals of the National Program.
The participants are technical staff from industrial enterprises and experts/consultants from industrial promotion and development consulting centers, energy efficiency centers, energy efficiency consulting organizations, technology universities, and research institutes in the southern provinces/cities.
Overview of the training course in HCMC.
After the training course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to assess industrial steam systems, thereby improving energy efficiency and saving costs. Participants will also become familiar with and understand the functions of evaluation software, optimization software from the US Department of Energy, thereby identifying opportunities to improve performance leading to the optimization of the entire steam system. The training course also introduces systematic improvement methods, quantitative methods for energy and cost savings from these improvements.
