Under the National Program on Energy Efficiency and Conservation, from 5-9/5/2010, the Energy Efficiency Center of Hanoi, together with Ninh Binh Department of Industry and Trade’s Energy Management Office, audited 2 businesses of the province, namely Ninh Binh Beer JSC and Dong Giao Export Food Company (DOVECO).
After 5 working days, the audit team recommended some preliminary solutions to help the two companies enhance the energy efficiency and conservation as well as manage the energy consumption.
As for DOVECO, results showed that the substation of the company had been used for too long and so it could not ensure electric safety. It often dropped voltage at the boiler area of concentration workshops, so the company needs to install capacitor banks for the substation; the pipeline of the pumping system had not been designed properly while the pump load had changed much. The company, therefore, needs to install the variable frequency transformer for the pumping system. Moreover, as the cooling circulating pump fans had not operated under the cold load, the long-cold storage had caused heat loss.
For the boiler system, the pipeline was longer than needed and so insulation was ineffective. Audit officers also discovered the great energy saving potential of the oil burner and the lighting systems.
Ninh Binh Beer JSC has the design capacity of 10 million liters per year with some main systems like beer crucibles cooling system, boiler system, electricity system, air compressor assembly of the pumping system.
During the past year, the company has had many difficulties because of market fluctuations, the obsolete production line, and the lack of energy experts. So most systems still have energy saving potential.
At the end of the auditing process, leaders of the two companies were very pleased as experts of the Energy Efficiency Center of Hanoi and Ninh Binh Department of Industry and Trade’s Energy Management Office have helped them discover the energy saving potential. Thereby, the two companies will gradually apply the proposed solutions to redress the wasted energy.
