The Ca Mau Province-based Cong Ly Construction, Trading and
Tourism Co., Ltd. began work on construction of a wind power plant on September
9.
The plant will have a capacity of 99MW including 66 turbines
to be built on 500ha, which spans from the coastal part of Vinh Trach Dong
Commune in Bac Lieu Town, Bac Lieu Province, to Vinh Chau District in Soc Trang
Province.

The project is expected for completion in two years generating power for sales to Electricity of Vietnam for integration into the national power system.
The company expects to recover investment capital for the project in a little more than 14 years.
Bac Lieu Province People’s Committee chairman Vo Van Dung told the launching ceremony that after the project becomes operational the sea in Bac Lieu will no longer be as deserted as now because the clean energy project will not only contribute to reducing power shortage but also help poor provinces like Bac Lieu develop marine ecotourism in combination with traditional aquaculture to create stable incomes for thousands of coastal residents.
