The Representative of the Evaluation Team from Denmark, Mr. Jen Lorentzen appreciated the active and positive cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in its deployment of Low Carbon Transition in Energy Efficiency Project (LCEE Project) to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in three sectors: brick, ceramics and food processing.
On March 16, 2015, in Hanoi, the review meeting took place between the project steering committee and LCEE project evaluation team from Denmark. Presiding over the meeting was Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu, director of the Department of Science, Technology and Energy Efficiency, General Department of Energy, Ministry of Industry and Trade. Leading the review team from Denmark is Mr. Jen Mr. Lorentzen - Senior Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Jen Lorentzen appreciated the positive and active cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in its deployment of the LCEE project to small and medium enterprises in three production sectors: brick, ceramics and food processing. Mr. Jen Lorentzen also expressed the hope that a better understanding of enterprises and businesses in Vietnam through this review mission could be attained.
According to Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu, "LCEE Project is a special project executed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in collaboration with the Danish government. The project focuses on supporting small and medium enterprises in the energy-consuming sectors."
Review Team from Denmark
Reporting on the progress of the project, Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu says, after two-year implementation, the project has built a financial mechanism, called Green Investment Facility (GIF) to support the businesses with loan to enable them to switch to energy saving production. In the framework of the project, various training activities, guidelines have been realized with their initial results. Most recently, a workshop was successfully held for businesses in Kim Lan ceramics & pottery village, Hanoi, and so was the seminar for brickyards in Vinh Long.
Those workshops attracted the participation of dozens of local businesses and others from neighboring provinces. By the end of the workshop, the business owners were addressed to the project officers who provided instructions and procedures for application of the loan.
Sharing the experience at the meeting, Mr. Jakob Jespersen, the project Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) said: "The project activities are well implemented in good coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and PMU. Looking ahead, various activities scheduled in the project will roll out and bring real benefits to businesses."
As revealed in the scheduled itinerary, the Danish review team will visit and meet with businesses in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Vinh Long, Haiphong and Hanoi this week. After this visit of the Review Team, the project is expected to hold LCEE workshops for aquatic products processing enterprises in Can Tho City in early April.
