The activity aimed to share the specific results of the Voluntary Agreement Scheme on Energy Efficiency in Energy Intensive Industries (VAS Program).
Nearly 20 journalists and reporters from reputable electronic newspapers, e-magazines, radio-television stations such as Industry and Trade Review, Vietnam News Agency, Voice of Vietnam, Nhan Dan Newspaper, etc., visited and learned about the operations at two exemplary enterprises participating in the VAS Program – Hanoi Beer - Alcohol - Beverages Investment Development Joint Stock Company (HABECO-ID) and Song Da Cao Cuong Joint Stock Company. These are units that have actively invested in and applied technological solutions to enhance energy efficiency, reduce production costs, and contribute to Viet Nam's greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.
Mr. Hoang Van Tam, Head of General Affairs and International Cooperation Division, Agency for Innovation, Green Transition, and Industry Promotion, Ministry of Industry and Trade, emphasized: “The VAS Program is a clear demonstration of effective cooperation between the Government and enterprises in promoting energy efficiency. Participating enterprises not only reduce production costs and increase competitiveness but also make a significant contribution to Viet Nam's greenhouse gas emission reduction goal.”

We believe these voluntary efforts will help spread the model of sustainable development across the industry, marking an important step toward the net-zero emission goal shared by Denmark and Viet Nam.”

Sharing from the enterprise perspective, Mr. Kieu Van Mat - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Song Da Cao Cuong Joint Stock Company, said: “Thanks to the support from the VAS Program, we have gained better scientific and technical grounds to invest in energy efficiency solutions boldly. This not only helps us reduce operating costs but also contributes to fulfilling our corporate social responsibility to the environment.”

Mr. Tran Dang Tuan, Deputy Director of HABECO-ID, emphasized: “Participating in VAS has given us a more systematic approach to energy management. The solutions proposed by the program have helped us improve production efficiency while affirming our commitment to green and sustainable development.”

The VAS Program, a technical assistance activity under the DEPP3 Program, provides free, high-quality technical support to industrial enterprises to improve energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions. The program helps enterprises conduct energy audits according to international standards and perform detailed techno-economic analyses to develop feasible and financeable energy efficiency projects. To date, the VAS Program has supported 21 key energy-consuming industrial enterprises, helping to identify 119 energy efficiency projects with the potential to save around USD 6 million in costs and cut 77,913 tons of CO2 annually.

The site visit not only enabled media agencies to witness firsthand the results achieved by enterprises but also contributed to the dissemination of typical models and experiences, promoting energy efficiency across the entire industry.
The Vietnam - Denmark Energy Partnership Program for the period 2020 - 2025 (DEPP3) is a technical assistance project funded by the Government of Denmark. Component 3 of the Program – Low carbon development in industry, led by the Agency for Innovation, Green Transition and Industry Promotion under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, aims to support Viet Nam in building a low-carbon roadmap for the industrial sector, aligned with the emission reduction and sustainable development goals and commitments.
