The German Government has revealed a new national plan to save more energy for homes and businesses across the country.
The National Plan of Action for Energy Efficiency (NAPE) sets out energy efficiency goals for the rest of this parliament.
It is designed to improve energy efficiency in buildings and promote new technologies and businesses that save energy. It will apply to both businesses and private households and also offer tax breaks to those investing in or developing energy efficiency products.
NAPE was announced on the same day as the Germans confirmed they would keep to EU set targets of reducing energy use by 20% by the end of this decade and by 50% by 2050.
Henning Ellermann, energy efficiency market expert at Germany Trade & Invest said: “The German Government is sending a clear message that energy efficiency is not only central to the country’s ambitious energy transition but also that energy efficiency represents a lucrative and dynamic industry it is keen to see develop.”
