Two UK energy associations specialising in decentralised energy have merged.The Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE) and the UK Demand Response Association (UKDRA) made the announcement at a reception in the Houses of Parliament yesterday.

The newly-formed Association for Decentralised Energy aims to create “a strong singular voice for the UK’s decentralised energy sector.

Dr Tim Rotheray, ADE Director said: “Demand side measures could save energy customers £5.6 billion in fuel and power costs but to unlock this potential, the customer must be put at the centre of the energy system and all options must be able to compete on a level playing field. By bringing these two organisations together, we will strengthen the voice for a more cost effective, less wasteful, low carbon energy system that puts the customer at the centre.”

Sara Bell, a UKDRA Director added: “With increasing focus on how we can use our energy resources more efficiently, now is the opportune time to present a united voice that will not only benefit the demand side sector but all energy customers.”
