After participating in the GE Ecomagination Challenge and
winning $50,000, Scott Brusaw and his wife Julie Brusaw are much more
optimistic in what concerns their Solar Roadways project, which aims to make
the road produce electricity through embedded solar panels.
The only important issue they have the deal with next is finding a proper glass to use for the pavement, and for that, they need help. “This prize money will give us the funding needed to continue bringing together a team of the best and brightest engineers, scientists, companies, and universities on board,” Scott said.
Some 74,000 people voted them in the challenge, supporting the project reach its second phase. “Our Phase I research is complete and we’re gearing up for Phase II. So far, so good,” he said. “We have a lot of testing to do, but no roadblocks anticipated!”
