EnerNoc EfficiencySmart Energy Management Software cuts energy costs by 15% without undertaking any efficiency projects.
EnerNoc, a well-established efficiency software company, released a new line of energy management software yesterday that the company's Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Gregg Dixon, claims can help companies cut their energy costs by 15% without undertaking any efficiency projects.

The software, which EnerNoc has named EfficiencySmart, allows business managers to set energy consumption goals for their facilities and track their progress towards meeting those goals. EnerNoc's energy management software can also monitor the performance of mechanical equipment and recommend means of improving a building's energy efficiency.
EnerNoc is known primarily as a demand response company, meaning that it is contracted by utilities to reduce energy demands during peak hours. It does this by managing approximately 3,500 businesses that are paid to install energy-saving software. This software takes small actions, such as dimming lights on hot afternoons, to reduce the companies' energy usage during peak hours. Participating companies are paid a monthly fee for their cooperation. EnerNoc is hoping to sell its new energy management software to the same customers to whom they already provide these demand response services.
The energy management software market is quickly becoming crowded, with a variety of other demand response companies, established business software companies, and start-up companies entering the field. According to a recent report by Verdantix, however, the sustainable business market will likely continue to grow in 2011, generating a larger market for energy management software from EnerNoc and its competitors
