Vattenfall opens 39.6MW wind farm in Scotland

Swedish company Vattenfall has officially opened a new wind farm in Scotland.

The Clashindarroch wind farm, located in Aberdeenshire, has 18 turbines with a total capacity of 36.9MW – enough energy to power more than 27,000 houses.

The project will help save 49,000 tonnes of carbon emissions, stated the company.

It has launched a £185,000 a year community fund, which will run for 25 years. Vattenfall has picked five community groups that will share almost £40,000 from the fund.

President and CEO Magnus Hall said: “Vattenfall is driving towards a sustainable power supply and we want to take the communities where we operate with us. Clashindarroch Wind Farm hits the mark on both counts.

“We don’t just want our wind farms to be good for the environment but good for the community too – that’s why we invest in wind energy and why we look forward to a long and successful relationship with the people of Huntly, Strathbogie, Tap o’ Noth, Glass and the Cabrach.”
